Together we can help a child from a low-income family prepare to succeed in school and in life.
Children from low-income families who attend preschool and full-day kindergarten have a 74 percent chance of reading at or above grade level, according to a 2006 Piton Foundation study. And national studies show that young children who participate in high-quality early care and education programs not only do better when they begin school, they continue to succeed throughout their school years.
Mile High United Way’s School Readiness initiative ensures that young children from low-income families have the chance to attend high quality early care and education centers. In 2006, more than 3,300 children from low-income families attended high-quality early care and education centers supported by Mile High United Way.
