Making Our Voice Heard

Mile High United Way works each day to make a positive impact in our community. For more than 120 years we have successfully teamed with our neighbors, the business community, nonprofits and state and local government to fill gaps in services, identify core issues, and create a brighter future for us all. But, sometimes, real system change is impossible without governmental policy changes. That’s why Mile High United Way is working to make its voice heard by advocating public policy at the local, state, and national levels.

State-Capitol Advocacy We’re working to achieve bold goals in school readinessyouth success and adult self sufficiency. Ensuring that:

  1. Young children in low-income families enter school ready to succeed and are prepared for a lifetime of learning.
  2. School age, low-income and under-served youth succeed academically, graduate from high school and are ready to transition to college or advanced training.
  3. Low-income individuals and families are afforded the opportunity to move toward economic self-sufficiency.
We help to craft practical, long-term solutions to pressing issues of human need. Through our work, our assessments, our close ties to community partners, and those we serve, Mile High United Way constantly gathers attains accurate, detailed knowledge about local human needs. This information provides a real-time snap shot of community needs and is a vital tool for policymakers at all levels of government.
